SeaLink Ferry & Bike Hire from Fremantle

About this experience

This package pairs SeaLink's same-day return from Fremantle with bike hire on the island and the government admission fee. The listing describes the meeting point as O'Connor Landing (B Shed Terminal) on Victoria Quay, at the blue SeaLink ticket desk next to E Shed, five minutes on foot from Fremantle station. The bikes come through Pedal & Flipper, SeaLink's partner on the island.

According to SeaLink's bike hire page, you pick the bike up when you get off the ferry and hand it back to the crew on your return sailing. Each hire includes a helmet and a lock, and an adult aged 18 or over has to collect it. If the bike breaks down, SeaLink arranges a recovery or replacement through Pedal & Flipper.

Read the age rule before you book. The listing offers adult-size bikes only and says the package is not suitable for children under 16. Families with younger children should look at the Rottnest Express ferry and bike, which offers kids' bikes. The upside of SeaLink is the timetable: more Fremantle sailings in peak months and a 7:00am first boat.

  • Bike, helmet and lock waiting on the island
  • Island admission fee included
  • About 30 minutes from Fremantle
  • Return the bike to the crew on your ferry home
  • Breakdown help through Pedal & Flipper

Tips before you book

  • Choose the 7:00am sailing on a weekday. It gives you the full loop before the afternoon wind.
  • The bike must go back on the same day, on your return ferry. Don't miss it.
  • Want an e-bike? Pedal & Flipper rents them to riders 18 and over; ask them directly.
  • Fill your bottles in Thomson Bay. Water is hard to find around the island.
  • SeaLink is a licensed venue: alcohol not bought on board can only travel in checked bags.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I collect my SeaLink hire bike?

On Rottnest, when you get off the ferry. An adult aged 18 or over has to collect it, and you return it to the crew on your return sailing.

Can children use the SeaLink bike package?

No. The listing offers adult-size bikes only and says it is not suitable for children under 16. Pedal & Flipper on the island rents kids' bikes separately.

Do I need to book a bike in advance for Rottnest?

In summer and on weekends it is wise. SeaLink says popular sailings sell out, and bundling the bike secures it with your seat. See our ferry tips.

Is SeaLink or Rottnest Express better for a bike day?

SeaLink suits adults: bikes wait on the island and the timetable is busier. Rottnest Express suits families: kids' bikes and baby seats. Our operator comparison goes further.
